Shut-up & Let ME Fight For You!

The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.

Exodus 14:14

For the Lord your God is He who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.

Deuteronomy 20:4

God Wants to Fight For His Children

Sometimes, God allows us to speak up and stand our ground, but there are also times when He's telling us to stay silent and let Him handle things. Trust me, obedience is key & He has a plan. We don't always understand why the Father is instructing us to do something or not do something, but because He is a good Father, we must know that His intentions for us are always good.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Jeremiah 29:11

The pain is shaping you into the person God had in mind when you were created.

What God Was Teaching Me

The reason I had to go through what I went through was to teach me to receive all aspects of God being my father. Why was this important for me? My parents divorced when I was just a few months old. Years later my mother began dating a man who later became my step-father (although I was never able to call him dad). One day something happened that upset him. I had a very smart mouth as a little girl, and sometimes as a woman 😬🤦🏽‍♀️, but I said something to him, which resulted in him choking me. After he let me go, I remember yelling, 'that's why I'm gonna tell my dad,' and his reply was, 'go tell him then.' In that moment, at such a young age, I felt hopeless because it dawned on me that I couldn't go get my dad to defend me. It was at that moment I knew I would always have to stand up and fight for myself. Once I told my mom, she definitely defended me, but for some reason, it left a scar because I needed my father in that moment and he wasn't there.

No matter how much moms try to compensate for absent fathers, no matter how great of a mother she is, it'll never be enough.

My step-father and I later mended things, despite our few head butts throughout the years, and we developed a good relationship before his passing. Nevertheless, I still had a huge father wound that needed to be healed.

Shut up & Let ME Fight For You!

God allowed me and my family to go through a time of great opposition. During this time, His instruction to me was, 'shut up and let me fight for you.' I did not understand why that was so important at the time. It was such a stressful time; my hair began falling out in clumps as I just sat back and took the javelins being thrown at us. We eventually came out of that season, but later, God explained to me why it was important.

He said: "I need you to know that I'm nothing like your earthly father. While you were being attacked, your job was to call for me (pray) and watch me show up for you, because I show up for my children, I fight for my babies, I answer when they call. You don't always have to fight for yourself. When you say to the enemy, 'that's why I'm gonna tell my Dad,' his response will never be 'tell him then.' Instead, he trembles with fear because he knows how faithful I am about My children."

For those you dealing with father wounds, God what's to heal you. I challenge you to lean into what He is doing in this season.
