Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: if either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
You're Just a Piece of the Puzzle
Three years ago, in 2021, I made a video post about people finding their team. This post was inspired by a movie I went to see called 'Respect,' which chronicles the life and career of the late singer Aretha Franklin. Her story amazed me in many ways. Aretha grew up singing in church, showcasing her incredible talent, which was nurtured by some of the best in the business. She was well-connected thanks to her father, so it seemed she had everything she needed to succeed. However, despite recording nine albums, none achieved significant success.
Then, one day, she stepped out of her comfort zone and collaborated with a completely different group of musicians. Together, they created her unique sound, resulting in her first hit.
Remember, Aretha always worked with top-tier musicians, so talent was never the issue. The problem was that her previous collaborators couldn't unlock what was already inside her. They weren't her team. In life's puzzle, Aretha was a significant piece, but without the right pieces around her, the picture remained incomplete.
The same applies to us. My husband loves gardening and takes great pride in maintaining our beautiful landscape. After many years of trial and error, he learned that not all plants can be planted in the same soil or environment; they simply won't grow or thrive there. In fact, some will even die.
If it’s not working out where you are, it’s probably because you’re in the wrong soil.
There's a FREE download that includes Prayer Points on the home page. Make sure you get that.
Where Are You Planted?
Where you're planted and who surrounds you truly matters. Your team can make all the difference. Those nine albums? They weren't wasted; they were all part of the journey, essential experiences that paved the way for Aretha's growth. Sometimes, it's the setbacks that pave the way for the greatest victories.
Back in 2021, when I made that video post, it was because I realized I lacked the right team to help me tap into what was lying dormant. I used to pray for friends, but things changed, and I stopped. Instead, I prayed for something different: "Lord, I pray you send my team." Now, three years later, I can honestly say that He has answered that prayer.
Trust in God's timing. He knows exactly which puzzle pieces you need to thrive, and He knows precisely when to send them your way. My advice? Pray God sends your team, but also ask Him to prepare you for their arrival so that you don't push them away when they come.
Whether it's today, tomorrow, or a few years from now, I pray you find your team.
