Lean In

What is God saying to you?

Whatever it is, I want to encourage you to lean in.

Let’s talk for a moment about discernment, specifically, discerning the voice of God.

God designed us with the ability to hear both naturally and spiritually. Just like in the natural, where we can recognize different voices: your mother, your father, or someone close to you, spiritually, we can also become familiar with different voices. If you’ve spent enough time with someone, you can recognize their voice even with your eyes closed. That recognition comes from relationship and proximity.

It’s the same with God. In the spiritual realm, you’ll hear 3 main voices: your own, God’s, and the enemy’s. Often, they can sound like your own thoughts. But as you grow closer to God; through reading the Bible, prayer, and spending time in His presence, your spiritual ears begin to tune in to His voice. Over time, you’ll be able to clearly distinguish His voice from the enemy’s. They’re polar opposites.

The enemy will often try to twist Scripture, just like he did when he tempted Jesus in the wilderness. But when we study God’s Word, we become rooted in truth, and the enemy’s deception loses its power.

Now here’s the tricky part: the difference between God’s voice and your own. That takes more practice. So how do you know if it's God? How do you know if it’s just you?

You lean in.

If what you’re sensing doesn’t go against the Word of God, then it’s important to be obedient to what you believe the Lord is saying.

For example:

Let’s say you feel like God is showing you something about someone, and you believe He wants you to share it with them. That can feel scary because there’s no proof yet that you’re hearing right. But as you lean in, this "on-the-job training" begins to teach you.

If the word is confirmed, you know it was God.

If you get it wrong, your pride and ego take a hit... which is still a win, because we want all pride in us to die anyway. But through this trial and error, you will begin to learn God's unique flow for your. The way He speaks to you may be completely different from how He speaks to someone else. This process teaches you how to flow with the way God communicates with you.

As you grow in knowing God, you'll be ready to move when He says go, and that’s vital because He wants us to be radically obedient. It won’t be easy at first. But if you stay close to Him, it will get easier.

If this blog spoke to you, I’d love to hear from you!

Feel free to share it with someone who needs it, and let me know how God is using this platform to encourage and strengthen your faith. Your testimony matters!

Blessings,

Nae🫶🏽
